A course for pianists as well as cellists who may attend as individuals or as a duo. Enjoy the different periods and styles of the rich repertoire for cello and piano. Join forces, for fun, with people on this course and benefit from expert coaching individually or in open lessons on pieces of your own choice ranging from Bach to the 20th century.

Do you have a problem with bow control, tone production, sight-reading or playing fast passages? Both these friendly tutors, well-known to Benslow, bring with them a wealth of performing and teaching experience. Players are welcome to discuss with tutors beforehand works they may wish to prepare.

Christopher Roberts will be available to accompany participants, besides coaching and giving a recital with Penelope Lynex.

Benslow's attractive and welcoming surroundings are ideal for music-making, with plenty of rooms, an extensive library, a well-kept garden and first-rate catering. Fees include coaching, accommodation and all meals. Private lessons can be arranged with the tutors if desired.

For advanced pianists and cellists. Minimum standard at least grade 5.

Penelope Lynex, a performer and teacher of wide experience, is the author of Cello Ideas: A Practical Guide and 20 Carols for a Cellist & Friends, both now selling internationally. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and with Paul Tortelier in Paris. She performs and teaches in the UK and abroad, plans and directs courses, and also writes and adjudicates. Reviews include ‘a strong performance of Frank Bridge's masterly Cello Sonata... authority and fervour.' (The Gramophone)

Christopher Roberts studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music with Gordon Green and graduated from the University of Manchester. He studied for a further year at Durham University and then with Paul Hamburger in London. During his time there he won a major award to study as a repetiteur at the London Opera Centre.
